I Miss Merinna

Oh my.

It's going on three weeks without a post, now. But then it's also going on three weeks since I've really been able to play WoW too.

This is the consequence of
  1. deciding to move back across the ocean to my home country,
  2. getting a new job and
  3. applying to a study fellowship so I can have the privilege of going to grad school and work in the field at the same time.
I'm not going to whinge too much. I am lucky to be in a field which is hiring in this day and age. And sooner or later, I'll get to see some benefits from all this change.

But, gosh do I miss my main right now in WoW. I've only been able to play a few stray hours here or there for the past several weeks. And it's kinda no fun to log Merinna so I can think about all the raids I'm missing, or the gear I'm not earning; or the achievements I'm not getting done. Most times, I don't have even an hour to run a daily heroic. So, instead of spending a sad hour with Mer, I sorta hide out on one alternate or another so that there's not really anyone around when I have to slink off back to studying or whatever.

I have been editing a blog post for more than a week now, but I think I'm going to kill that because it is more of a sad, and perhaps bitter reflection of not getting to play WoW than anything terribly constructive. It's called "Patch 4.1: They're Getting It All Wrong!" Need I say more?

I will say more: I'm not finding very much exciting about this patch at all. The centerpiece is two bits of recycled troll dungeon. Bleah. Firelands is delayed and they have apparently abandoned the two-raid-per-tier plan.

Zul'Aman is something I'm really not happy to see. It was such a punishing, treacherous bit of instance that way back at the end of The Burning Crusade, I was so happy I wouldn't have to go there ever again. And now...now, it's recycled with most of the same encounters it had before?

I'm thinking that smashing my big toe repeatedly with a hammer might be more satisfying than Lvl 85, heroic 5-man Zul'Aman.

But enough of that. If I ever get time to go and run 5-mans again, I'll surely get to Zul'Aman, grit my teeth, and scrabble for some epics. I'm just not going to admit to liking it.
