Is Flintlocke in the Game?!?

Merinna was at Stormwind Harbor, looking for a way to return to Vashj-ir and not finding much of anything, when something caught my eye:

A plane. It is one of these typical "plane" models that we have seen flying all over Northrend for a while now: Mostly yellow with orange highlights. But these things have only been on rails to date. You get in one at Valguard and it takes you to an Explorer's league outpost. Or, you fly around in one for various reasons in Icecrown.  But here was one flying into Stormwind. And, um, flying badly.

I tried to click on it to see what it was, but it would fall and then climb again. Really, it was behaving like somebody experiencing lag on a mount. But I finally got my cursor on it and targetted and then I checked my raid panels to see what it was:

It was Flintlocke's Seaplane. Which could only mean that the man... I mean, the dwarf, himself must be nearby.  I jumped on my flying mount and looked all over but the seaplane got away.

So, for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, Stop what you are doing, right now. Just stop everything. And go read Flintlocke's Guide to Azeroth

Flintlocke is the main character of a long-running series by Dave "Fargo" Kosak, a former cartoonist for Gamespy. (He is also a featured performer in Flintlock Vs. The Horde, a second series) And... just... it sets the bar by which all other WoW-related comics should be judged. I just can't say strongly enough how funny this series was.

Flintlocke was commemorated in Hellfire Penninsula once before with Flintlocke's Piloting Pants, a quest reward from some goblins, if I recall. But the kicker is that Dave Kosak quit his job at Gamespy in 2009 ... to take a job at Blizzard, writing for World of Warcraft.

I have written here before that some of the new humor I'm finding in Cataclysm quests really hits the spot, and I can't help but think that is Kosak's influence.  With Naralie running about Tarren Mill, I keep hoping to bump into some Pween Scene Investigators.

But that's all besides the point now. Flintlocke is here somewhere! And it is a happy day! Can tha chuck-shot be far behind?

  4. argh, what a way to waste an afternoon. Both Flintlocke & Rok-tar comics are very funny.

I'm reminded so much of Jajo, the guilds worst warrior. Would always rush in without thinking...and die.
